Important Insurance Update, April 2026

Please see below for an important statement from Mountain Eye Care.

Dear Mountain Eye Care Patients:

At Mountain Eye Care, our mission is to provide exceptional medical eye care, high-quality eyewear, and extraordinary personal service. To continue delivering the level of care our patients expect, we regularly evaluate the insurance plans we participate with.

After careful consideration, we have made the decision to no longer participate with Vision Service Plan, VSP. Based on their exit protocol, the effective date is to be determined by VSP, please call us to confirm your eligibility and options.

Mountain Eye Care is committed to a higher standard of care. Our independence allows us to focus on quality care, advanced technology, and premium eyewear without compromise. Our priority will always be providing what is best for our patients, not what is dictated by an insurance network.

What this means for you:
– You can absolutely continue your care at Mountain Eye Care.
– Your relationship with your doctors and our team does not change.
– You will continue to receive the same expertise, service, and product quality you expect.
– Our team is always available to discuss your options.

PLEASE CONSIDER:
– Many vision plans allow you to self-submit out-of-network claims for reimbursement. We will gladly provide the documentation needed.
– When comparing costs, consider the total yearly cost of vision plans, including premiums, copays, deductibles, and upgrade fees. Many patients find our direct pricing very competitive when these factors are considered.
– Many employers and/or insurances allow for patients to use HSA for their eye exams, eye glasses, and contacts. Please check with your policy holder for details.
– In most cases, we are able to bill your medical insurance for a portion of your vision exam; especially if you have a medical diagnosis like cataracts, dry eyes, macular degeneration, headaches, ocular migraines, visual discomfort, or visual field defects.

Thank you for trusting Mountain Eye Care and supporting independent optometry. We truly value the relationships we have built with our patients and look forward to continuing to care for you.
If you have questions, please call 970-731-4347.

Sincerely,
Jon Zissman, O.D.
